The Handover Board Meeting in Porto was an absolute blast! Having the whole Board-Elect
in one physical location for the first time was a truly unique experience. Together, we
hammered out most of our board Annual Plan and finalized the details of our collaborative
working style. Beyond working, we bonded through various activities, including the
Board-Elect free night, where we were on our own. I can’t wait to spend more time with these
wonderful people.

Handover Board Meeting – Review
The Board-in-Office (aka “old board”) helped us by answering all of our questions and
transferring a wealth of internal knowledge about the international level of EESTEC in several
sessions. If you want to know more too, I recommend joining one of our international teams
by checking the published calls.
On the fun side, we did a city rally through parts of Porto, focused on solving puzzles. You
had a clear advantage by knowing the flag alphabet (I don’t) or being good at puzzles (I’m
not). It was great! Although the several hundred steps in the end gave you a feeling (in your
legs) why there is a cable car in Porto. The international night was another highlight, which
had so much food to try that we almost ran out of table space. I can highly recommend
Porto’s wine, and of course, our Swiss Ricola Vodka was a banger, too.
At the end of the event, we engaged in the tradition of writing strokes for each other, small
personalized notes for everybody to be taken home with and read on the plane. Believe me
when I say that they are beautiful but make post-event depression so much stronger.
A big thanks to the OC for providing us with comfy accommodation, tasty food, a great
working space, and slappable jello.
