Once Upon a Drink in Milan

Dear EESTECers,

The typical day of an ETH student involves lots of studying, studying, studying. But once upon a time, you might have had an ingenious idea: What about a drink? And additionally, you might be dreaming about what places to visit with the money your hard studying will hopefully eventually earn you. And it hits you like a brick:

Once Upon a Drink in Milan

Because, as EESTECers, we don’t wait for the money, we travel without it.

As such, two beautiful EESTEC LC Zurich members travelled to Milan, and after a quick Pizza, left for the wonderful site of the International Motivational Weekend (IMW).

At the heart of the IMW were two big parties with two themes. On the first night, we celebrated our favourite cult films with the theme Lights, Drink, … Action! We dressed up as our favourite movie characters. My personal favourite was the guy who showed up dressed as the floating plank from Titanic.

The second night, we had to celebrate the great achievements from the first night. The red carpet was rolled out (literally, there was a red carpet!), and the EESTEC Academy Awards were presented to honour the best, wildest, and weirdest costumes. Unfortunately, the plank didn’t win best costume.

In between, on Saturday, we met old friends from previous events, made new friends and (re)learnt the names of the people we met on Friday night. As usual with such a diverse group of people from many different countries, you learn a lot about other countries, other cultures, and how they work. Additionally, as is mandatory for Swiss people, we provoked a short hike down into the village, where we were hoping for a great view of the nearby Lake Como, but had more of a view of trees blocking the view.

And now we are faced with EESTECers’ main problem: Which friends do we go visit first? The ones in Türkye? Spain? Back to Milan? And of course, the answer is: All of them!

See you around Europe!
