Dear reader. If you are reading this to decide whether to apply to EESTEC LC Istanbul’s next great event, you can stop reading now and go apply.
Dear reader who is not currently applying to an EESTEC LC Istanbul event, you should be.
Now that everybody applied, some more about the event:
The highlight clearly was the Turkish night. After staying in a small AirBnB for a few days, we were surprised to suddenly stand in front of a fancy-looking Turkish restaurant. And even more so when we then took the elevator to the 8th floor. And then again when sitting down close to the window, at a table that already was filled with small Turkish snacks, and Turkish Rakı, Şerefe! (=Turkish for Cheers!), which later turned out to be an infinite source. Suddenly, very loud music starts blasting out of the speakers. And also the vintage lights turned out to be LEDs and party-ready. Şerefe again! After eating approximately one of my Turkish meatballs, we stood up from our chairs and started to dance! Unbothered by the fact that there was no dance floor in the restaurant. And, of course, Şerefe! As if it was the most natural thing, there also was a live singer, and three Turkish dancers (both male and female). Later that night, shortly before it was brought away, I managed to eat the rest of my by-now-cold meatballs. Then, we also got some fruit plates, which are very refreshing after, no, during, hours of dancing and Şerefe!
During day time, we, the Board of the Association, had to work, after all this was our Summer Board Meeting. We discussed how to measure the impact of our Teams and Projects. How do we improve the quality of Live Regional Meetings? Tried to find a Spring Congress Organising Committee. Gave a crash course on GDPR. Evaluated the progress so far and the goals to still be achieved on EESTEC’s Strategic Plan. We discussed what and how to potentially change our Association’s yearly timeline. More details on these and more will be published internally soon, ask your Contact Person. We held a soft skills session for LC Istanbul, and we held an EESTEC 101 presentation for them, complete with an open Q&A.
If you want to know more about who the people on the Board of the Association are and what they do, or you are potentially even thinking about becoming a boardie yourself, don’t hesitate to contact me at michael.heider@eestec.net.
And now, dear reader, go apply to your next great EESTEC event!
